I’ll probably get massively busted for this, but…
…I just got back to Los Angeles after spending the last six months in Toronto shooting and editing “Saw VII”, and had a chance to go through some photos:
Yeah, that guy looks like he’s in a Jigsaw trap, but it’s just the 3D camera rig.
Come to think of it, I look like I’m in a SAW trap myself, but it’s just a submarine voyage while on break from the shoot. Kind of looks like parts of the “Saw VI” set.
You’ll just have to see the movie to know what the heck this is.
That’s me and Assistant Director Steve Webb. See, people smile on SAW sets…
And that’s our bitchin’ 3D camera tactfully hiding my face, with cameraman Mark Hroch and cinematographer Brian Gedge.
Soon you will start seeing real pictures from “Saw VII”, since I’m not allowed to show anything spoilerific (the sooner the better, in fact, with the “Paranormal Activity 2″ trailer out there petrifying “Twilight” audiences across the land…) The movie is a sledgehammer of SAWishness, with more traps, more craziness, and more die-mensions than we’ve ever tried before, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

I’m so glad to read from you. And be sure, a lot of people are looking foward to SAW VII.

Woooooo. I cannot wait. If Saw VII will only be half as good as Saw VI it’s still one of the best movies ever created

Photos, thanks! Steve Webb seems like a great guy. And I can’t help but love the Scott Pilgrim shirt in the first photo. Way to go, Saw VII!

Kevin, You have got to do something about this title. Its terrible. People are going to rule it out as a cheezy movie and never go see it. Seriously, you gotta agree even just a little bit..

Hi Kevin.
Just one question: Why do you name Saw VII “Saw 3D The Traps Come Alive”?? =(
July 9th, 2010 at 10:39 am
^yea? im sorry but thats not exactly a great name just leave it at Saw VII.. The new name is a stab to all the Saw fans who have stayed with the series.. =’(

Hey Kevin! I really love the hard work and time you are putting into Saw VII to make it extra special for the fans of the series, especially since you were (as far as I heard) forced onto the job. I loved what you did on the “Outstanding” Saw VI which saved the series after the “Average” Saw V. One thing though, and I’m sure all the die hard fans including me agree that Saw 3D (reminds me of the horrendous “The Final Destination”) is a awful title, and should probably be kept with the usual trend: Saw VII. You’ve gotta tell the producers to change it or something because if I decide to watch it in 2d it will be awkward; though taking off “The Games Come Alive” and making it a tagline was a nice choice by them haha. I have no idea how much power you have on this, but I know the message boards are heating up against it”. I know however that as you in the directing seat, Saw 3D will be awesome regardless. I have read your blogs and if what you guys are doing with the 3D is true, I will be very impressed come Oct 22. I cannot wait!

Love the series and love Saw VI, easily the best of the Saw films. Something I don’t love is the title, Saw 3D?? C’mon as a hardcore saw fan I truly do hate it. WHy not stick with SAW VII?? Please do something Mr. Greutert, I know nothing of how much power you have in regards to the title but it would mean a lot to me and other hardcore fans if the title was simply SAW VII or SAW VII 3D, I’d prefer just SAW VII, but either one is better than SAW 3D. The producers say Saw VII 3D would be, “Cumbersome,” I beg to differ. I’m totally cool with that title as will other fans. They also say soo much hard work was put into the movie, which I could image being an aspiring filmmaker and all, but is putting VII in the title really that much more work? Seriously? Please now it would mean a great deal if you spoke to the producers about the title, even show them my rant, or better yet show them this link from Erick Striffler whom you spoke with last year. He speaks the truth and I agree with what he’s saying.

So if it’s not that much trouble please speak with producers about the title. I can see that I might seem dumb for writing all this all for a title of a Saw movie but it means a great deal to me and thank you for your time.

Also, the producers said that they don’t want audiences to be confused and think that they’re re-releasing the first Saw in 3D so they added the tagline “The Traps Come Alive.” So to avoid any cofusion they should have just kept it Saw VII or Saw VII 3D problem solved, it’s not that hard people, jeez. Just please fix the title, it’s hard as it is to convince friends and other people that the Saw series is a good one. I’m actually kind of embarrased to say I’m a Saw fan at the moment because of the title and how ridiculous it is, but I’ll still have to watch it because I’m a fan nonetheless.

Kevin! Love the teaser trailer that came out today and the official poster too.
I hate how they (whoever pulled you off of PA2) treated you, forcing you to direct SAW 3D, but I am glad it was you. Saw V was horrible, the worst, yet Saw VI turned it around and made it fun and enjoyable again. I’m looking forward to the final SAW =)
